  • It’s okay to buy boring notebooks, but don’t leave them that way! Get some fun and colorful fabric from the dollar store and use it to deck out your notebooks!
  • Get sponges from the dollar store and use them as homemade icepacks for your kids’ lunches. Simply put them in a bag a little bit wet, freeze them, and you’re good to go!
  • You can get a nice pocket dictionary from the dollar store which will always come in handy. Just stick it in your kid’s backpack and they’ll definitely use it!
  • Get those little cases that are for holding cotton swabs and use them as a min first aid kit. It easily fits in your kid’s backpack and will help them be prepared.
  • Buy those travel soap boxes and use them to store crayons and other school supplies. They’re cheap and can easily be stored around the house.

  • Help your kids get excited for back to school by getting them character themed sandwich boxes and lunchboxes. Find characters from their favorite movie or TV show and go for it!
  • Take a dollar shower caddy and turn it into a fantastic paper holder for all your kids’ school supplies, papers, homework, etc. It’s fun to decorate and super cheap!
  • You can also use a drying rack to organize papers as well. Simply add little dividers for sections and then stick the papers where they belong.
  • Get baskets from the dollar store and use them to organize and store lunch supplies. Use them to make a super efficient lunch station for your kids.
  • You can also use the same baskets to organize school supplies. Have arts and craft supplies in one box, calculators and scratch paper in another, etc.

  • This is so cute! Turn Mason jars into adorable pencil holders with this great idea. You can paint the jars however you want, just make them look good!
  • I love this idea! If your child is learning fractions, then use a veggie tray from the dollar store as a physical teaching instrument. Label each holder as a certain fraction and let them practice with beans or marbles.
  • You can pretty much get all school supplies and arts and craft materials at a pretty good price from the dollar store. Be on the look out for deals where you normally shop, but the dollar store offers school supplies at a good price.
  • Get a baking sheet and some magnet letters and use it to create a spelling board. Your kids can use it to practice their spelling by using the magnet letters.
  • But those ice pop trays you use to make popsicles and store crayons and other at supplies in it instead. It’s super cheap and holds crayons and colored pencils really well, actually.

  • Use those over-the-door organizers to get all your school supplies in order. Use a pocket for each type of supply and then just put it somewhere that’s easy to access.
  • Invest in a few dollar store cups that you can use to store each of your kid’s bathroom supplies separately. That way, when they are going to bed or waking up, everything they need is all in one place.
  • Get cookie cutters to cut your kids’ food into fun shapes. If they’ve had a hard day at school, a dinosaur shaped sandwich will for sure make them feel better!
  • Loaf pans from the dollar store are actually a great way to get your desk drawer organized. Use them to store school supplies that your kids can quickly access when doing homework.
  • Make a great teacher gift by putting a bouquet of flowers in a bouquet of pencils. Just wrap the stems in pencils and it’ll be a great gift!
