Do you like dyeing Easter Eggs, but get tired of the limited colors of dye available? There’s a better way to dye your eggs and create vibrant shades of dye, and you don’t have to buy a fancy kit to do it. All you need is a box of food coloring. Today’s post will show you how to really amp up your Easter Egg colors this year. Stick around!
Before we get started, make sure you’re prepared with a box of regular food coloring, such as this one you can purchase at Amazon. With a simple dying guide like this one, you can create a whole dimension of vibrant colors you probably hadn’t even thought of! All you need is the food coloring, vinegar, and hot water.
Combine 1/2 cup hot water with 1 teaspoon of white vinegar. Now add the appropriate drops of food coloring as specified in the coloring chart. For example, for a vibrant orchid color you would use 7 drops of blue food coloring and 3 drops of neon purple.
Submerge your hard boiled eggs in the dye. Don’t rush it, because you will get the most vibrant colors if you allow the eggs to sit for at least 5 minutes before removing from the dye.
To create hand-painted eggs, mix the amount of food color specified in the chart with 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar {no water}. Use this color mixture to paint your eggs as you wish. Using a paintbrush gives these eggs a watercolor appearance. Beautiful!
