It’s a tradition at my house to have some friends over on Valentine’s Day. I know most people go out to romantic dinners but sometimes going out is just too much hassle. Finding a babysitter, making reservations, getting dressed up, going out…Sometimes, I’d just rather stay home! Snacks are pivotal to our parties so here are some staples that are great for parties or even gifts!!
Twinkie Hearts
I’m not the biggest fan of Twinkies but my kids love them. They don’t get them on a regular basis so I figure that Valentine’s Day is a great time for them, and why not make them festive? Get the recipe for the raspberry puree from Nums the Word.
Valentine Popcorn
But not just any popcorn! White Chocolate popcorn with heart shaped sprinkles. It’s seriously addicting. Recipe from Kate’s Creative Kitchen.
Fruit Kabobs
Basically all you need is some fruit, a heart shaped cookie cutter and some kabob sticks. Yum. Idea from Jane-Can.
Pretzel Buttons
I love having the kids make these with me. It’s quick enough that they won’t get bored. Tutorial found on Life with Mel.
Cheese Platter
I LOVE cheese and making a cheese platter for my parties with my handy dandy cookie cutter is just too much fun. Image from Celebrate the Big and Small.
Smoothies
I make strawberry banana or pineapple smoothies and put them in small, clear plastic cups. It easy to serve and everyone can enjoy it. Momtastic also has a great recipe for this yummy Valentine’s smoothie.
Cupid’s Arrows
Donuts on a stick. Everything is more fun when you put it on a stick! This adorable idea is from Squirrelly Minds.
Cupcakes
How cute are these X and O cupcakes?? I love this idea I found from Red Couch Recipes.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
We can’t forget the classic (and yummy) chocolate covered strawberries! Add a few sprinkles to make them more festive! Let’s be honest though….my chocolate covered strawberries never look even close to as perfect as these ones that I found from Mommy Savers…what’s their secret?
Mini Parfaits
I thought these were such a good idea, and I want to make them with my girls this year! I personally wouldn’t want to make them for a big party (too much work), but they would be great for a few family or friends. Get the recipe from Bubbly Nature Creations.
Let me know what other good ideas you have for Valentine’s treats! I’m ready to throw a party!
Thanks for the love!!!
