25 Amazingly Thrifty Storage Solutions

  • Take a metal basket, flip it sideways, and then nail it or attach it to the wall. Use it to store knickknacks, books, or anything else you want!
  • Take jars and add magnets to the lids. Then store things like spices, nuts, bolts, nails, screws, or anything else inside of them. Add a magnetic strip to store your jars somewhere in the kitchen or garage!
  • Take a cereal box, cut it up into smaller boxes, cover them in fabric (if you desire!) , and then use those as drawer organizers. What a great way to organize your home, and repurpose your old cereal boxes!
  • Take pieces of PVC pipe and attach them to the inside of your bathroom cupboard drawers. Use the pipe as holsters for things like your curling iron, blow dryer, and straightener.
  • Give your old crates a new fate! Clean them up a bit, and then use them as rustic storage. They’re good looking, durable, and go with lots of different kinds of interior design.

  • Take a cereal box and turn it into a desk organizer (similar to the idea on the previous slide)! Paint and decorate as much as you want; just make it unique and make it look good.
  • Take an old shutter, spruce it up a bit, and convert it into a mail holder! Simply slide the pieces of paper or mail into the slots of the shutter. Use this tutorial if needed!
  • Find a bookcase with wide shelves and then add cubbies or bins to the bookcase to create cute and affordable storage. You can use this to store pretty much anything!
  • Turn a few random Mason jars into a great looking desk organizer. You can attach them together use glue or another adhesive, if desired. Either way, mason jars are a great way to store pens, pencils, and other writing utensils!
  • Take an old Tic Tac container and use it to store bobby pins. This is great for on the go storage! I have a Tic Tac container full of bobby pins in my purse!

  • However you decide to store and organize things, make sure you use labels!  Purchase my favorite chalkboard organization labels here!
  • Make some no sew slip covers that you can use to hide any unsightly storage bins! Out of sight out of mind, right?
  • Take a Mason jar or two, paint them to give them new life, and then use them for storage around your house on things like night stands and end tables. It’s super cheap and looks good.
  • Cookie jars are great for storing craft supplies because their mouths big enough to fit a lot of items inside!  Use this in your craft room or even in a children’s playroom to store larger items.
  • Put a bunch of pails on a rack together and use them to store either inside or outside toys. It’s super cheap and easy to make, and it actually looks pretty good!

  • Try your hand at making some sort of storage furniture piece. A really easy place to start is an ottoman, which can be pretty small but extremely useful!
  • Take a breadbox and use it as storage on your kitchen counter. But instead of putting bread in it, store your electronics in it! It allows them to charge without being a nasty clutter.
  • You can use a shoe box to organize all your cords and chargers. Simply put the surge protector in the box and then cut holes for all your cords to come out of.
  • Take an old book and cute a phone-sized hole in it. This allows you to keep your phone charging on your night stand, but keeps your counter top looking really clutter free and classy.
  • For your linen closet, instead of having all your bedding stored all over the place, keep it all tucked inside one pillow case. That way, you just grab and go and don’t have to worry about digging through all of your pairs of sheets.

  • Hang a soda pop tab around the neck of a hanger and then hang another hanger on that tab! It doubles your closet storage space without spending any extra money!
